Drops II
Handmade from stoneware, this contemporary cream wall sculpture features repeating droplet forms. Within the main body are two droplet shaped hollows where floating 24 karat gold lustre drops are suspended in the air, held with gold lacquered copper wire.
Created by Miyelle at her studio in Hackney, London, this unique piece is part of her latest ceramic collection “Evolving Femininity” which explores, honours and challenges notions of womanhood. The pieces in the collection reflect biological themes such as the cyclical transformation of our menstrual cycle, aging and fertility. While also focussing on the emotional and lifestyle changes we navigate as our lives progress.
The piece is made from textured stoneware and the body is unglazed so you can admire the light cream colour of the clay. The golden drops are glazed with a satin glaze and painted with 24 karat gold lustre with some visible brush strokes. There is a softness and imperfection attributed to the handmade nature of the piece with visible textural markings from the clay and making process. The reverse of the piece features two 8mm holes to fit screws for hanging the piece on a wall. The piece weighs 990g.
w 19.5cm x h 22.5cm x d 3.8cm
